Hartwood is the group of people in Nanaimo, BC, Canada who are involved with the SCA - the Society for Creative Anachronism. Hartwood began in the summer of '89, around a table in the Shady Rest Restaurant in Qualicum Beach.

The SCA is a group dedicated to re-creating medieval life as authentically as possible. Well, as authentically as possible without giving up on some of the modern necessities of life like medical care, cooking facilities and chocolate (among other things).

Hartwood lies on Insula Magna (Vancouver Island), within the Principality of Tir Righ , a branch of An Tir ("We stand together!").

To the north is the Shire of Cragmere, and  the shire of Ravensley. To The east is the Shire of False Isle
